The Final Countdown–Not Just an Overrated Monster Ballad!

We are one week away from our departure from Portland, and it has been a week of mixed emotions–from the stress of ending the school year, to the excitement of taking the next step, to the difficulty of saying goodbye, it is safe to say that I basically don’t know which end is up right now!

Last night, we got to hang out with many of our friends at our “Get Rid of Mike and Sarah Party,” and it was a blast!  I cannot believe how lucky the two of us are to know so many people, and I am happy that we are only saying, “see you later” and not “good-bye.”

I turned in my keys and cleared out my school room on Tuesday, and brought 14 boxes of stuff home, only to realize I am hoarding, so I whittled the number to nine today.  Now, it is time to start boxing up the rest, so if anyone feels like stopping by…

Sunday is the big move, and then we will get a preview of our trip for the next week, as we will be sleeping on the ground and living with the bare necessities.  Not exactly living off the land, but as close as I plan to come to it.

At this time next week, Sarah will be leaving Columbia headquarters, where I will be waiting in the car to whisk her away to rural Idaho to meet up with our friend Dusty and Courtney for a couple of days before we move on.
