2019 – 2020 Still Moonin’ Itinerary

  • June 16: Drive the van to City of Rocks, Idaho to kick of the trip cragging on granite in the middle of nowhere. We will enjoy getting off the grid to get settled into the van and re-group after the sprint to finish work and school
  • June 28: Head over to Ten Sleep, Wyoming to sport climb and celebrate the 4th of July in small town USA.
  • July 7: Meet Sarah’s parents at Devil’s Tower, Wyoming. Sarah first saw Devil’s tower on a family road trip in 1988. She has been wanting to climb it ever since! This will be a dream come true and her parents want to watch. Plus her dad really wants to take some sweet photos of them crack climbing!
  • July 10: Alpine mountain climbing in the Tetons… Grand Teton is calling our names. Hopefully make a quick trip to Yellowstone and do some sightseeing in the area as rest days between climbing.
  • July 24: Continue the alpine adventure in the Wind Mountains, Wyoming. Cirque of the Towers has many long multi-pitch routes on granite. Looks amazing!
  • August: High Sierra, California. Highlights will include Mt. Whitney, Mt. Sill, Moon Goddess and cragging in Toulomne.
  • Labor Day: Head east quickly to get to Indiana for Labor Day weekend with the family. Start packing to transition from living in the van to living in a backpack for 4 months.
  • September 4: Drive to O’hare with Sarah’s parents. We will catch a flight to Slovenia and Sarah’s parents will head to London.
  • September – Slovenia Enjoy the country side and Julian Alps. Hopefully attempt to climb Triglav using via ferrata. Travel through Croatia to see the sights, climb, drink good wine, enjoy the beach and take a vacation from the vacation.
  • October – Quick trip into Bosnia, Montenegro, and Albania to see the scenery and learn about their history.
  • October -November: Greece! Rocking climbing, island life, yummy food and wine and history. Sounds amazing!
  • November/December: Spain. This will be our rest month – no climbing, primarily sight seeing, drinking wine and enjoying a slower pace. We will wrap up in Paris, to catch our flight home.
  • December 19 – January 8: Indiana for Christmas and East Coast (Philadelphia and NYC) to visit friends in January.
  • January – Ecuador… Mountaineering, trekking and the Galapagos Islands!
  • February – Columbia and Costa Rica… Beach time, trekking and Sarah turns 40!
  • March – May: Rock climbing… Red Rocks, Moab, Joshua Tree, Owens River and Taos with Mike’s parents.
  • May – August 15th: Yosemite, Canada (Bugs, Squamish) and North Cascades
  • August 15th: Home to Portland!!!
