Kimuras in the Crowd

Wow, did we have a crowd on Saturday. Tim said he counted 46 at one point. Enough that we stopped part way through open mat and took a picture.

I warmed up and goofed around a bit with Corey. I had light rounds with Nick and Niko, interspersed with hard rounds vs Renato and Daryl. The easy rounds are fun. They give me a chance to recover, move, practice things, and instruct. I gave both guys a mini lesson on defending and escaping the armlock.

The hard rounds were both good too. I worked the kimura pass and combo relentlessly in both. I’m becoming a huge fan of that ‘system’ for a lack of a better term. After class on Wednesday, I had asked Damian a question about the back take after using the kimura pass. I have trouble getting both hooks in, and he cleared up my mistake. He said that this chain of techniques is a good match for me, and to focus on it. He noticed me using it with Daryl and made sure to yell at me to keep it when it appeared I was going to switch to something else.

Damian also used me to demo a north/south choke to Danny. Rough on the ears. Danny, Long, and Tim are all going to no gi Worlds this coming weekend. I’m happy to assist as much as I can.
