Take Downs and Rounds

Pretty straightforward last night. We drilled take downs for about 30 minutes, then we switched to rounds. We broke into groups of three, five minute rounds, stay in for 2. I had Derwin and Daryl.

About half way through the takedowns, I wasn’t feeling very well. I almost always eat something before class, but last night I cut it a bit close, and may have eaten too much. And after the first rotation of sparing, I seriously felt like going into the bathroom and puking. I gave it one more rotation and felt better. One more rotation and I felt even better, and I felt great going into the last one.

After class, we were all soaked. The mats looked like someone just mopped them. And we were all exhausted. But smiling. I felt great. Like “runner’s high” great. It was hard to describe. I just felt, alive, alert, and happy.
