Sweep or Pass

Tough night. We started with an extended warm up, jogging and whatnot around the beginners class that was rolling in the center of the mat.

Damian led a quick review of last week’s techniques, which were three sweeps, hook sweep, tomahawk, and sitting up into the pretzel sweep. We then did two variations, where when they stand up, they go a bit high. Just pop up your hips into single leg x, and work the sweep chain from there.

For rounds, we split into groups of 4. 4 minutes on top, 4 on bottom. Starting with feet on the hips and double sleeve control. Top guy needs to pass. Bottom guy needs to sweep or submit. I had JR, Edwardo, and Jason. I did pretty mediocre on bottom, getting one sweep, and getting passed several times. And I did horribly on top, passing no one. Came close a couple of times against an exhausted Jason. Passing certainly isn’t my strong point. It was a tough 24 minutes. Everyone was spent by the end.
