Half Guard Rolls

Big big class last night. Fittingly, led by Big Tom.

We drilling transitioning from half to full guard, an overhook (to the belt) roll, a follow up to that if he drops his hips (you roll the other way), a half guard to the back, half guard to the knee collapse sweep, and a half guard to a single leg takedown.

For rounds, we did 5 minutes each. Higher belt started in half guard. I had Little Bob, Charlie, Dave, Tim and Wade. Bob and I stalemated, he couldn’t pass, and I couldn’t sweep. I hit one of the sweeps of the day with Charlie, passed to side control and then did a mounted triangle. Near the end of the round I got him with a double ankle sweep into an armlock too. Dave is getting tough. I had all the makings of a flower sweep, but it was left handed and I was uncoordinated enough that I couldn’t get it to work. Tim went about as normal, though I did almost get a sweep off on him. Wade and I stalemated, though the advantage was on his end, as I was tired enough that I couldn’t keep a good position.
