Gone, Not Forgotten

It’s been tough to find time to go to the gym the past two months, but the end of the chaos is in site. Still a couple of weeks to go, but there is a light at the end.

Another quick open mat for me this week. Warmed up with Rodney. Finally hit the lasso guard situp sweep. Also had a nice combo where I had an overhook grip on his collar, but he was trying to isolate my other arm behind me. I grabbed his sleeve with that hand, so he was effectively using both of his arms to control my one. I rocked for a sweep, and he posted with his leg, which allowed me to butterfly hook it and rock the other way. Didn’t sweep him, but came close enough that he aborted all of his grips to stabilize.

Cheng was next. He berimboloed me right off the bat, and I spent the entire round defending my neck. Might be a new record for me. I was doing as much as I could to escape, but never quite got there.

Double round with JP. I’m still working on beating his baseball bat choke. I hesitate to post up on his face/neck too much, as I know he’s injured it before. I did get a nice mounted triangle off on him later in our rounds.
