Back in the Fire

I’m not dead. Nor did I feel like dying during class last night, much to my surprise.

The chaos may be subsiding, allowing everyone to start to settle into our normal routine.

Tim led both the warm up, and class. This week (and perhaps next) is going to be all about deep half guard. Last night we covered entry into deep half from regular half guard, basic grips, and one sweep. Ron and I paired up and worked through the sequence. We did a lot of drilling.

For rounds, I had Ron, Little Bob, Damian, and then Renato. Did okay with Ron, lots of back and forth. Did well with Bob, keeping him on the defensive most of the time with a kimura from half guard and threatening a couple of chokes. Damian put it on me, but said afterwards I was doing well. Didn’t feel like it for the 7 minutes of the round though. Renato and I were stalemated for most of the round with him attempting to pass my half guard, and I defending and working to sweep. I did get his back for a minute, but never could really secure the position.
