*cough* Saturday *cough* Open Mat *cough*

Ugh. It just won’t go away. The cough is mostly gone. It only pops up when my chest is compressed, which during jiu jitsu, is about always.

Went to open mat anyways. Warmed up with Timmy. Made it about 3/4 of the way through the round and had to stop. Couldn’t breath.

I grabbed Jack, a brand new kid, instead. I asked him what he’s learned recently: armbars from mount and the triangle choke. So I went slow, and gave him setups for both. I started with the world’s worst guard pass, where I reach back with one hand to open his legs, basically giving him a triangle choke on a silver platter. He didn’t take it. So I told him to do it. Cory led him through it from the side lines. Later I did the same thing with the armlock from mount. I also slipped in The Most Important Lesson About Half Guard…keep the underhook. First I showed him why it was bad to not have it (I took his back and choked him). Then I went to half guard again and again to test him remembering to maintain it. And he did, eventually.

I had other rounds with Dave and someone else too. Taking it easy, but still sweating some.
