Ankle Picks

I had a good class last night. Brady warmed us up, and then led the first part of the lesson, ankle pick take downs.

As usual, we built up a sequence. With a collar tie, we gripped the same side arm, circled and pulled them to get them to step into us. We drop and ankle pick. If they kick back with that leg, we pick the other. We drilled a lot.

Damian joined us and built upon it. After the take down, we establish a leg drag position with the seat belt grip. Then, as usual, if they roll away, we can take their back. We built up a couple of options. If they roll away, and keep on rolling, we establish our hooks, just in a different order. If they roll and escape, we switch to an arm triangle. If they roll to the right side to escape, we maintain our grip and re-roll them. All good drilling.

For rounds, we did 6 minutes in, 3 out. I had Daryl, Brady, Long, and Morgan. Did good with everyone. Damian watched Brady and I. I was (yet again) just a little slow with the rolling kimura back take, but later I was sprawled out on Brady and I was working for a inverted triangle that Damian commented on. Said it was a good idea, but I was a little hesitant.
