2009 Sub Hunt Team Champions!

I got some big news last night right before I left for class. Apparently the final tally for the Submission Hunt team results have been tabulated. And team RK Camarillo (Our gym + the Brainerd branch) won! Edging out Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, the largest gym in the area, for the victory. Glad to know that I contributed, even though I didn’t win!

My back has been a little tender the past week or two, plus one of my ears was sore from Tuesday night’s armbar marathon. So I planned on taking it easy tonight. We warmed up with a 8 minute flow drill, I was paired up with Kyle. Haven’t seen him around in a while.

The lesson was the same arm lock/triangle choke/omaplata combination we worked on Tuesday. I think that I’ve solidified the first two pretty well. The omaplata it tricky, but I did get the rhythm of it going last night. Kyle was nice and avoided my ears after I told him how sore they were!

After class, I rolled a couple of times with a guy who I’ve seen a few times, but still don’t know his name. A white/blue belt. He passed pretty easily both times, but my defense was really good and I held him off or in an awkward position the whole time. He did kimura me in the second, but he had to really work for it!
