Sitting Out.

I had every intention of doubling up on classes again tonight, but after the intermediate one, I just wasn’t feeling it. But the intermediate class in and of itself, went very well.

Brady led, and I got to be the demonstration dummy. We did a sequence of three techniques. First was the sit out. Suppose we’ve shot for a take down, and gotten stuffed. Now we’re on out knees and in a bad spot. Sitting out is one of the movements we usually warm up with, but here we actually put it into use. Post with one hand, then thread your opposite leg through and lean back on your opponent. You’ll be looking up at the ceiling. Then switch directions and now you’re on top. From there, we transitioned into a clock choke. And lastly we covered an option for if our opponents anticipate the clock choke, you can step over and roll onto their back.

We did three 5 minute rounds, starting in turtle. I had Ron first. Nice back and forth. More of a good warm up than a hard roll. Next I had Wade. I stepped things up here and did well. Recomposing the guard when he started to pass, a couple of good sweeps and both a kimura and a nice loop choke from half guard. Last round was with Otto. Did well here too. Got him with the same loop choke. He did a great transition from arm locking my left arm, and after I defended it, switched right into locking the right.
