Another out-of-the-ordinary class tonight.   No lesson, but a Q&A session.

We worked a couple of positions that were giving people trouble.  They were a little advanced, but I think I still got something out of it.

I was paired up with John last night, he’s a purple belt.  The highest ranked guy I’ve been paired up with so far.  He has a pulled groin muscle, so we had to take it easy.  Which turned out great, because he took the time to teach me some more basic things about the positions we were working.

I was determined after class to spar some.  Damian has said it several times.  There’s jujitsu in theory, and then there’s jujitsu in practice.

And the best way to learn and develop is to see what works for you and your body type, and what doesn’t.  So Tom and I went at it.  I think we did 4 rolls, and I arm bared, rear choked, and armbared him.  He did catch me in an americana in the middle.   The last roll was almost epic.  We went a long time back and forth.  I just tried to keep breathing steady, didn’t rush anything and relaxed when I could.

Guess I must be absorbing something, because it really felt like things were clicking for me.
