Side Control Armlocks

I kicked things off, as usual, with an 800m run and my 531 squat work. Still feeling pretty good with my progress.

Enrique provided us with a solid warmup of calisthenics. We started class with five minutes of flow rolling. Been a while since I’ve done this, but it did occur to me recently that I should try it again. Basically it’s rolling, but very light, like 20% of normal. It’s a nice excuse to move and experiment.

The lesson was a couple of armlock attacks from side control. The first involved trapping his nearside arm, baiting going to mount, and then using that to shift your legs and sit into the armlock. The second is the Fabio “Superman” armlock we learned a while back. Ron and I stuck with this one for the remainder of the class, because there’s a lot of steps and neither one of us were very smooth at it.

After class we rolled some and it was a nice back and forth. He mentioned that his 2 year anniversary was about now. Time flies!
