Saturday Open Mat.

Nothing much new happening, just trying to keep getting as much mat time as I can. I had good rounds with Erik, Darryl, Wade, Paul and Danny.

I did use some of my time to ask some questions of Damian and Tim. During Paul and I’s round, I tried for a half guard sweep with a butterfly hook, and ended getting mounted. This happens frequently when I try this sweep. Discussing it with Paul and Tim afterwards…it turns out that I’m both doing it incorrectly, and skipping the setup (which is another sweep, to the other side). Thinking about it more after class, I think that I’ve got 3 similar sweeps all confused.

During Danny’s and I’s round, I ended up in half Octopus guard, and never can remember my options from there. Danny likes that position, so I asked him about it, and Damian was nearby, so I asked him a sweep question from there. He had shown it to me a while back, and Danny wasn’t familiar with that on in particular.
